Coaches

Shilo Titus – Coach Shilo Titus works with our Cross Country athletes. Shilo served in the United States Navy where he starting running. After a few years of being out of the military he realized he needed to do something to keep his stress levels down. In 2011, Shilo picked up running again and worked toward the goal of finishing a Half Marathon. Since then, he’s participated in many events and distances ranging from 5k to 50 mile, including triathlons up to the Half Ironman distance, and has finished every event. Throughout it all, Shilo has enjoyed seeing others accomplish their goals more than he did for himself. In 2015, Shilo created a running group in Janesville that has since grown to over 600 members. He has coached several of these runners over the years and they have all accomplished their goals. Coach Shilo decided it was time to reach out to the younger generation and give them as much knowledge as possible in order to better themselves. Shilo worked for Rock County for 24 years, and now working in Insurance. He is happily married and has two children.

Bree Carlson-Thiele – Coach Bree Carlson-Thiele works with our Cross Country athletes. Coach Bree fell in love with distance running after college. Since that time, she has raced distances from the 5K to her favorite – the marathon. Her proudest running achievement is qualifying for Boston. Prior to running, Bree was a competitive dancer and coach at the middle, high school, and college levels. She also taught in the public school system and at the college level prior to returning to graduate school to pursue a career as a physical therapist. Bree’s background as a coach, teacher, and therapist has allowed her the pleasure of working with athletes of varied abilities and ages.

Jason Guernsey – Coach Jason Guernsey works with our runners on Elite TC. Jason picked up running relatively late in life, not seriously starting until 2018. At that time the goal was to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. After running a few 5k and 10k races, he set his sights on qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon. On April 18th, 2022, that dream became a reality. He believes that being consistent in efforts and training and that by having a determined focus on your goals, even what feels impossible can be achieved. He has since run the Boston Marathon twice and will return to the course for a third time in April of 2023. Aside from marathon running, Jason also loves competing in USATF sanctioned events and loves running the 1500m and 3000m events. He lives in Janesville with his wife and three children.

Mike Dorry – Coach Mike Dorry works with the Elite Throws Club. Mike began his throwing career in middle school for the Cumberland School District in Cumberland, WI. A stand out in the shot put he continued on competing at the Division III collegiate level for St. Norbert College. After an injury cut his collegiate career short in his freshman year he didn’t lose the love for the sport and became a full time student of the throwing events. After shadowing, collaborating, and volunteering for many different throw coaches and programs, Mike took over the Clinton High School throws program in 2019 and found immediate success coaching two sectional finalists and one state qualifier in his time there. In 2022, he left Clinton High School and joined the Janesville Craig coaching staff. In his off-seasons Mike constantly strives to continue his knowledge of the events, finding classes, conferences and clinics while constantly talking shop with his network of coaches he’s built through the years. Mike is always up for spreading his knowledge and passion for the throws and wants nothing more than to inspire kids to continue coming out for track and field for years to come. Mike’s passion for helping the youth extends past the track though as he works as a Youth Care Specialist in a group home for at-risk youth in Beloit. Mike moved to Janesville in 2016 and loves spending his free time with his wife, daughter and dog.
